# Northbound

Northbound is a real-time 3D Viking longship race built with TinCLE, C/SDL2, GLSL and Cannoli Box3D. Race seven rival longships across 30 fjord and coastal circuits. The routes include ovals, a figure eight, a fjord sprint, hairpins, chicanes, switchbacks, stepped harbor turns and mountain runs. Choose each stage from the course-select screen. A finish returns you to course select.

The captains' quarrel is nearly a blood feud, so they choose a longship race instead of a fight. Win the five-race arcade class and the crews put the feud aside to share a celebratory feast and ale together.

The title screen shows the pirate crews racing through the fjord; the arcade-class victory screen shows their shared celebration. Both 1280×720 illustrations are included in the Windows and Web builds.

## Play / 遊び方

### Keyboard / キーボード

- **A / D** or **Left / Right**: steer. **W / S** or **Up / Down**: adjust speed.

- **Space**: hold to boost; release to recharge. **P**, **B**, or **Backspace**: pause. **R**: restart the current heat.

- **C**: cycle Follow / Orbit / Cinematic camera. Drag the mouse to look around.

- **L**: cycle Morning / Overcast / Moonlight. **J**: toggle automatic steering. **H**: hide/show the interface.

- **Esc**: show/hide the mouse cursor. In menus, use arrow keys and **Enter** to select.

### Controller / コントローラー

- Left stick or D-pad: steer and adjust speed. **A**: confirm and boost while held. **B** or **Start**: pause/back.

- **X**: automatic steering. **Y**: change camera. Left shoulder: lighting. Right shoulder: hide/show interface.

### Touch / タッチ

- Use the lower-screen left/right steering and slower/faster controls; the center control toggles automatic steering. Hold **BOOST** for a burst and release to refill.

- Drag in the upper scene to look around. Separate fingers can steer/speed while another finger adjusts the camera.

Follow an opponent's wake to build boost, then pick a clear line to pass. The HUD shows your place, distance and boost status. Options save automatically. Master volume starts at 45%.

NorthboundはTinCLE、C/SDL2、GLSL、Cannoli Box3Dで作ったリアルタイム3Dのバイキング船レースゲームです。ライバル7隻と、フィヨルドや海岸を走る全30コースを競います。オーバル、8の字、フィヨルド、ヘアピン、シケイン、スイッチバック、港の段状コーナー、山岳コースなどが登場します。タイトルのコース選択画面からステージを選びます。ゴール後はコース選択に戻ります。

船長たちの喧嘩は殺し合いになりかけますが、決着は船のレースでつけることにします。アーケードの5レースを勝ち抜くと、海賊たちは争いを忘れ、宴と酒を囲んで一緒に祝います。

タイトル画面にはフィヨルドで競う海賊船、アーケード優勝画面には宴を楽しむ海賊たちの1280×720画像を表示します。画像はWindows版とWeb版の両方に同梱されています。

### キーボード

- **A / D** または **← / →**：操舵。 **W / S** または **↑ / ↓**：速度調整。

- **Space**：押している間ブースト。離すと回復します。 **P**、**B**、**Backspace**：一時停止。 **R**：現在のレースをやり直す。

### タッチ

- 画面下部の左右操作ボタンで操舵、速度ボタンで減速／加速、中央で自動操舵を切り替えます。**BOOST**を押して加速し、指を離してチャージを回復します。

- 画面上部をドラッグすると視点を動かせます。複数の指で操舵・速度・視点を同時に操作できます。

ライバルの後流につくとブーストがたまり、進路を選んで追い越せます。HUDには順位、走行距離、ブースト状態が表示されます。オプションは自動保存です。マスター音量は45%から始まります。
